A U.S. President Honors the Arts


On this date -- January 24 -- 1970, U.S. President Richard Nixon traveled to Philadelphia to present the Medal of Freedom to Eugene Ormandy, legendary conductor and music director of the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra. What a fitting way to honor the contributions of artists and the arts!
